LIVING AND LEARNING IN-HOUSE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMME

The Gem Residential Programme is a new programme which is based on a “living and learning” concept.  It is a life skills programme where learners are resident for a specified duration of time. They participate in a range of daily life and vocational skills disciplines as part of their learning curriculum. It is focused on personal mastery of basic skills where the skills taught will assist them in their journey towards independent living.

This learning component use the ‘learn-by-doing’ approach where the life and vocational skills taught are assessed in their everyday living as an interim residential learner.  As part of their learner s’ daily tasks, learners are assessed against their level of competency and mastery in cooking, housekeeping, maintenance, group-work and other life skill sets.

The residential programme will assist learners in their behaviour modification process by assessing the impact of the Gem values, life orientation and skills programme.
