ABOUT US

The Gem Project contributes to meaningful child and youth centered empowerment. The project evolved into a holistic child and youth-centered learning and vocational skills development Academy. The Gem Project have a Junior Bridging school for children aged 6 to 15 years and a Youth Academy for unemployed school dropouts between 16 and 23 years.

Since inception in 2010, accumulatively through our fulltime Adult Education and Training programme we have supported over 300 school dropouts and have provided partial home-based care & primary school educational support to over 100 fulltime junior beneficiaries.

What do we do?

• For vulnerable children we offer home-based care through our Partial Care Facility and work with the beneficiary’s family to ensure successful re-unification and integration. We also run a multi-grade bridging and remedial school to prepare and transition learners into mainstream or special needs schools.
• For youth at risk with below grade 9 formal schooling we offer a functional work-based literacy, numeracy, life skills, vocational learn to work and job preparatory coaching programme to prepare them for the world of work.
