Basic Vocational Skills, Learn to Work & New Venture Creation Programme
The Gem Youth Academy Vocational Skills and Learn-to-work programme is a Youth-Employment-Connector-Programme which links learners to the world of work. It offers them work-based skills to bridge the gap from unemployed to employed by providing them with job preparatory skills. The programme equips them with the right attitude to work, understanding of work, work-place safety, behaviour and norms. This includes theoretical, practical and job shadowing components.
Learners attend in-house vocational skills training programmes in the following skill sets:
- Cooking & Baking
- Housekeeping, Hygiene & Cleaning
- Basic Hospitality
- Crop Gardening and Plant Production
- Basic Woodwork & Wood Craft Production
- Work Readiness and Learn to Work Preparatory Skills
Learners also attend external training for vocational training in Retail, Customer services, Childcare/ Early Childhood Development (ECD), Basic Administration and Enterprise Development.
