Youth Academy – Senior School

The Gem Youth Academy offers high-school dropouts aged 16 to 23 years a 2nd chance to gain meaningful education and functional vocational and work-readiness skills training. We offer an integrated learning and vocational model for academically challenged learners who cannot return to mainstream schooling. Annually we recruit a cohort of 40 full time youth learners through an intensive recruitment and selection process.

Learners participate in a holistic personal development and work readiness programme which includes work-based functional literacy, numeracy, vocational, life, work readiness and employability skills.

The programme runs for a period of 12-15 months during which our multidisciplinary team works with the individual learners to prepare them for entry level jobs in the services, retail, hospitality, agricultural crop production, food and beverage and production sector. On successful completion of the full programme learners are placed in jobs with our employment partners.
